13 Jan 2011

Glasgow hospitality and leisure businesses could miss out on up to £30,000 of tourism funding if they do not apply by the deadline of January 28, 2011.

The Tourism Innovation Fund (TIF) scheme offers matched funding of up to £30,000 and professional one-to-one advice to help businesses to develop and market the very best innovative tourism ideas.

The TIF support is awarded to the best innovation ideas. Judges will pick projects that are based on great ideas that will lead to significant business growth. The innovative idea could be based on a product, service or business process.

Perhaps you have a business idea that could significantly increase overnight visitor numbers or a scheme to extend the visitor season outwith peak months? But whatever your idea, to be in with a chance of securing the funding businesses must apply by January 28.

The financial support from TIF could be used to contribute to costs incurred in the development of an idea, for example, market research, producing samples, feasibility studies or preparing for a launch.

To be eligible, applicants must be based in the Scottish Enterprise area. The proposed project is required to derive the majority of its turnover from servicing the needs of leisure and/or business tourists.
