Entries now open for prestigious food & drink awards

24 Jan 2011

Scottish food and drink businesses are being invited to enter this year’s Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards. The prestigious awards, which take place in May, recognise the very best in the nation's food and drink products – and such an accolade promises to boost your profits in the future.

A company that can proudly display the Excellence Awards logo is more likely to attract fresh custom and new customers. Previous winner of the category for best fruit or vegetable products in 2010 was Scotherbs. Marketing executive Aisling Thornton said: “We have used the Awards logo in a variety of marketing literature to show the high quality of our produce. It’s resulted in great PR opportunities and has boosted sales due to the increased product awareness.”

If you want to be in with a chance of being named a top producer in 2011 you have until March 4 to enter the 2011 Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards, which is being organised by Scotland Food & Drink and The Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland.

The Awards will also form a major milestone in the Scottish Government’s Year of Food & Drink and the presentation ceremony will take place at Dunblane Hydro Hotel on May 26.

In 2011 for the first time the winners of the Grampian Food Forum Innovation Awards and the Highlands & Islands Food and Drink Awards will be automatically shortlisted in these national Excellence Awards.

Paul McLaughlin, chief executive of Scotland Food & Drink, said: “The Excellence Awards showcase the crème de la crème of this country’s food and drink products and businesses and offer a fantastic opportunity to boost awareness and in turn drive sales.

“The judging panel are always overwhelmed by the standard and quality of the entries and I’m sure that this year will be no exception. Scotland has a great deal to be proud of when it comes to food and drink and this is the perfect opportunity to shout about it.”
