Glasgow Welcomes accolade for City College

12 May 2011

This week, Gordon McIntyre, head of hospitality at the college, said: “It’s fantastic that our hospitality department now has a licensed  trainer who will be able to deliver the Glasgow Welcomes programme to students.
“Kenny McMillan has done really well and he is keen to deliver the Service Excellence course to the first group of HND hospitality management students in the coming weeks.
“This will be first of many courses that will be offered to students in the coming months, and a full plan of delivery will be implemented next academic session  starting in September.”
Stella Callaghan, of Glasgow Service With Style, which offers the Glasgow Welcomes training, with the support of Scottish Enterprise, said: “We are absolutely delighted to award another in-house licence, especially as it’s the first education establishment. This is a fantast achievement for Kenny McMillan because the assessment process is rigorous and takes a lot of dedication and skill to achieve.
“We also know from previous achievers that having a qualified trainer in-house can make an immense difference to morale and motivation in tourism and hospitality workplaces. We are very keen to have more people apply to join our Glasgow Welcomes trainers' course.”

The City of Glasgow College joins a growing network of establishments that can now deliver the important in-house training scheme to staff.  At the Marriott, Radisson blue, Cordia, Crowne Plaza, Millennium, Blythswood Square and Cosmopolitan hotels, where staff have already gain a licence to deliver the course, reports reveal an increase in motivation from team members.

The Glasgow Welcomes Trainer Training Programme presents an opportunity to gain a licence to deliver the one-day Delivering Service Excellence course to your own front-line staff in-house, helping to inspire them to deliver exceptional customer service, leading to increased motivation and ultimately, to increased sales.
The training, which is subsidised thanks to funding from Scottish Enterprise, is followed by on-going support from the Glasgow Welcomes Training Facilitator, with regular networking/update sessions with fellow trainers throughout the city, to share best practice, hints and tips.
The next training course in June is full but please keep an eye on this website for further training dates. If you would like to be notified of the next course please email: glasgowwelcomes@glasgowservicewithstyle.com
