New on-line resource for career seekers

07 Sep 2011

A new on-line service could be the key to a new career for school leavers, those already employed or career returners. Launched by Skills Development Scotland, My World of Work aims to help a range of people to plan, build and direct their career throughout their lives.

The useful on-line resource offers a wealth of information on skills, learning and employment. There is advice on how to get a job, how to make a career change, learning and training, and job-finding services. By logging on to My World of Work, you will also be able to see various jobs in action, create a comprehensive CV, search for vacancies and explore training opportunities.

The website features video clips of people talking about their job roles and a  magazine element with engaging content that is relevant to the world of work.

Stella Callaghan, of the Glasgow Tourism Service Initiative, says: “The tourism and hospitality industry welcomes any initiatives that aim to give people a greater insight and choice in their career. The new My World of Work is innovative and exciting and we are sure it will prove a very helpful resource."

My World of Work supports the Scottish Government’s ambitions for the improved delivery of an all age and universal careers service. It also complements SDS’s current face-to-face and telephone services, as well as those provided by partners, so that more job seekers have access to a range of channels depending on the level of support they need.
