A handy new pocket guide to Glasgow is proving a big hit with city businesses. The “Be First to Know” booklet offers a wealth of information about city attractions, venues, events and interesting facts and statistics.

The pocket-sized reminder is aimed at front-line staff in the tourism and hospitality industry and offers invaluable tips, information and key messages that can be passed on to visitors to Glasgow.

Produced by Glasgow Service with Style and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, the Be First to Know guide will be up-dated every six months.

Already a range of businesses have found the guide to be invaluable for improving customer experience.

At Glasgow Taxis, vice-chairman Stephen Flynn has been keen to distribute the guide to thousands of taxi drivers throughout the city.

He says: “There has been a good response form our taxi drivers and we think the booklets are a great way to improve the visitor experience when coming to the city.

“There is a lot of information in the guide that our drivers can then pass on to our customers.”

Stella Callaghan of GSWS says: “It’s all about making it easier for staff in the city’s hotels, attractions, restaurants and taxis to offer a knowledgeable service to our visitors.

“We want to offer visitors to Glasgow the very best experience that we can and if staff across a range of tourism and hospitality businesses know about what is on offer in their city they are in a great position to pass on this information.”

The guide includes such categories as major events and conferences in 2011, useful city information, insider tips, facts and figures about Glasgow, transport tickets and tips, as well as news.
